Zürcher Theater Spektakel

It remains an open question as to whether the title of this piece refers to the cocaine derivative with its fast and hard flash or to the cracking and booming sound of the music. Regardless, this production by Arco Renz ‒ a former student of Robert Wilson ‒ is strong stuff. Together with com- poser Marc Appart and six young dancers from Cambodia he portrays the zeitgeist of this rapidly changing East Asian country. A pared-down yet virtuoso language of movement, driving industrial noise combined with dance and performance elements, are the essence of this impressive collaboration commissioned by the Singapore Arts Festival 2011.
