Emel Mathlouthi

Kelmti Horra

Kelmti Horra

Tunisian singer-songwriter Emel Mathlouthi is considered the voice of the Jasmine Revolution. For years she opposed her country’s dictatorial regime. One year after the downfall of Ben Ali, she released her album «Kelmti Horra» (My Voice Is Free). Her songs talk about oppression, pain, dictatorship, but also freedom, love and hope. With her band she creates an atmospherically dense soundscape composed of elements of Tunisian folk music, samples, trip-hop, strings, beats and European rock. (ron)
