Nil

Nil

Be it in Berne, Johannesburg or New York ‒ wherever the Genevan Compagnie 7273 performs the audiences are enthusiastic. For their latest creation «Nil» the troupe founded in 2003 by the young choreographer-dancers Nicolas Cantillon and Laurence Yadi, both former members of Compagnie Alias, was awarded the Swiss Dance and Choreography Prize 2011. Based on a clear and reduced dance vocabulary of mainly round and gentle movements that are interpreted with flowingly effortless precision and accompanied by the orient-inspired soundtrack of the American guitarist Sir Richard Bishop, this tribute to the river Nile is a work of haunting beauty with an undertow one cannot escape from.
