Zürcher Theater Spektakel

With wisdom, disarming humour and a rare sense of scenic interpretation, the French Swiss director and author Marielle Pinsard plays with the opposition of black and white, Africa and Europe. Her concern is not what we have in common but what we consider our own. Starting point of her research in Switzerland, France, Benin and Burkina Faso was the question: What about the animal? In thirteen scenes, outstandingly interpreted by a European-African cast, she examines various facets of the relationship between man and (his) nature. From the Garden of Eden to the voodoo chicken, no cliché is left untouched as the fig leaves are whirled around and the animal within us is grabbed by its tail. A fantastic pleasure! (esc)
